Emmy Award-winning Director & Producer | Anthropologist
Dr André Singer was awarded an OBE in the 2020 Queen’s Birthday Honours list for his contribution to both anthropology and documentary film. He has brought a background as an anthropologist to a wide range of films as director, producer and executive. He has covered themes of social importance from the original Disappearing World Series he ran for British television to his Emmy and Peabody winning film about the Holocaust (Night Will Fall) and to his thirty-year collaboration with German legend filmmaker Werner Herzog with whom he co-directed the film Meeting Gorbachev which has been screened this year at the UNDFF in Palo Alto. He is Professorial Research Associate at London School of Oriental and African Studies and is CEO of production company Spring Films in London.
